“My earliest conceptions of painting and drawing were intertwined in the word resim which is a Turkish word that translates to painting, picture, tableaux, and drawing. Because of this, I never really had a distinction between a painting and a drawing until much later. All I knew from a young age was that I was making pictures by hand.”
