This project emerged after two events that caused upset in the student body at Brown University in 2019: namely, the refusal on the part of the administration to meaningfully recognize a divestment referendum which voted in the affirmative, and the revelation that the university explicitly provided special accommodations to students who came from more privileged backgrounds. As a protest, Ceyhun set up an Unofficial Artist Residency outside the offices of the President of Brown University on April 29, 2019 from sunrise to sunset and made protest paintings throughout the day. He documented the process live on social media and invited others to join, to ask questions, or to simply gaze.
